Dust In The Wind
(Acrylics: 36x24)
Dust In The Wind

A while back, I heard the song with the lyric ‘all we are is dust in the wind’ and the lyric played over and over in my mind. The lyric made me start to think about death and how all must die sooner or later. Death comes when it comes and there is no stopping death. Death comes to all whether one is worth a trillion dollars or the poorest of the poor, young or old, attractive or unattractive, famous or not. Truly in the end, we all are nothing but Dust In The Wind. The painting is what my mind’s eye saw when thinking about the lyric. We try to avoid death, run from it, turn our back to it, vow to overcome impending death but death cannot be beaten and it does not discriminate. In the end, we all sort of disintegrate, for the most part, no matter how much we turn our back on death. When we are dead, we are gone forever. I don’t find it sad as it happens to all living things. It is just the reality of having life which has to end.
